By “low to the ground,” we’re guessing that you mean ground clearance, and for that measurement we can suggest several small crossovers that are lower than most. The Mini Cooper Countryman is the low rider, followed by a tie between the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson, then the Kia Sportage, Nissan Juke and Dodge Journey. Other may be in the same range.
|Vehicle||Ground Clearance (inches)|
|Mini Cooper Countryman (base and S)
Several small SUVs have 7.5 or more inches of ground clearance, including the Chevrolet Equinox, Jeep Compass and Patriot, and Nissan Rogue, to name a few. A higher stance is part of the SUV look, so crossovers tend to have more ground clearance than cars, which typically have less than 6 inches.
If your question relates to how easy it is to get in or out of a crossover, ground clearance is just one factor. You should also consider the overall height of the vehicle, how wide the doors open and the height of the seat cushions. Judging those factors will require checking out the vehicles in person.
