Manual windows? We haven’t seen that on a new car in years, though if you think small and inexpensive, you might still find one with old-fashioned window cranks.

Among 2012 models available with manual windows are the Chevrolet Sonic 1LS and 2LS, Ford Fiesta S, Hyundai Accent GLS, Kia Rio LX and Nissan Versa 1.6 S. There may be others, but note that all of these are base models of subcompact cars, the “price leaders” that let manufacturers advertise lower prices than their rivals.

In some cases, such as the Fiesta S, power windows aren’t available as an option. In others, such as the Accent GLS, they are optional. In all instances, dealers are unlikely to stock stripped entry-level models because most shoppers expect power windows and a lot more, even on small cars (and on used ones, too).

If you have your heart set on manual windows, you could be in for a long search or have to work with a dealer to order a car that way.
