Volkswagen says there are no current plans to offer all-wheel drive on the 2012 Passat sedan, which will go on sale in late August to early September. “Consumer demand will dictate whether it is a future option,” VW says, so let the company and dealers know if you feel strongly about it. 4Motion AWD was last offered on the Passat for the 2008 model year. Currently, it is available on the Tiguan and standard on the Touareg SUVs, plus it will be standard on the upcoming Golf R performance model, so there are all-wheel-drive alternatives in the VW lineup.
