Do I have to use premium gas in my 2010 Nissan Murano?

Do the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave require Premium gas?

Susan, Egan, La.

No and no are the correct answers to your questions, though the first response concerning the Nissan Murano requires some explanation.

Nissan says premium gas is “recommended” for the Murano’s 3.5-liter V-6 engine, but you can use regular gas with a minimum octane rating of 87. Nissan says you may experience a “slight decrease” in performance with regular, but there should be no loss of fuel economy and no engine knocking (or “ping”) as a result.

The Traverse and Enclave use the same 3.6-liter V-6, and General Motors says to fill ‘em up with regular.
