Ford’s new Super Duty lineup is scheduled to go on sale this spring, featuring the F-250, F-350 and F-450. The 2011 will feature two new V-8 engines, including a 6.2-liter gasoline and 6.7-liter diesel. A six-speed automatic transmission will be mated to both engines; the manual option has been dropped for 2011.
In short, the new gasoline V-8 makes 385 horsepower and 405 pounds-feet of torque. The diesel is rated at 390 hp and a jaw-dropping 735 pounds-feet of torque. Maximum towing capacity is 24,400 pounds when configured with diesel and a dual rear-wheel setup on the F-450; the maximum payload capacity is 6,520 pounds in the DRW F-350 with a gasoline engine.
