I am sick and tired of lifting the seat. My mom has an Accord with the luxury package, so I decided initially I wanted an Accord with the updated body style for 2008. My mom felt I may want something a little bigger, so she suggested that I look at other cars because I have already owned an Accord and she has one. I am definitely looking to buy used because of my price range; I want the luxury package regardless of what I get.
The current body style of the Accord — 2008 and newer — is larger than its predecessor, so it’s definitely worth putting back on your test drive list. Because you’re looking for a better-equipped model on a budget, there’s more good news: Starting in 2008, you can get all the luxury appointments of the EX-L, which includes leather, with a four-cylinder engine.
Opting for the premium trim level doesn’t mean you have to choose the more expensive and less efficient V-6, though if you want that extra power, the EX-L is also available with a V-6.
If you’re looking at used vehicles, we recommend searching for a certified pre-owned model. These vehicles come with an extended factory warranty and are given an inspection before they’re put back on the lot. There are also restrictions on the vehicles’ age and number of miles.
For similarly sized sedans, you should also look at the 2009 Mazda6 and the 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Their four-cylinder models are available with higher-optioned trim levels and are of the larger variety with respect to interior room and cargo space. On the Mazda, look for the i Grand Touring trim level; with the Sonata, check out the Limited with four-cylinder engine.
