For high ground clearance in a small package, check out the 2010 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport or 2010 Suzuki SX4 Crossover. If you can upgrade in size, then the 2010 Subaru Forester is a compact SUV that offers plenty of ground clearance.

The SX4 Crossover has 6.9 inches of ground clearance and all-wheel drive is optional. The SX4 Crossover starts at $15,849 and an all-wheel-drive model is $16,849. Suzukisx4crossover

The Impreza Outback Sport starts at $19,995. Compared to the regular Impreza, the Outback Sport has a raised suspension that gives it 6.3 inches of ground clearance. It comes with standard all-wheel drive and standard features like heated seats and an upgraded stereo.

The Forester comes with 8.7 inches of ground clearance in X models and 8.9 inches in XT versions; all Foresters have standard all-wheel drive. The Forester 2.5 X starts at $20,295, which is close to the Outback Sport’s price, but it doesn’t come with some of the Outback Sports’ convenience features. If you’re strictly looking for ground clearance on the cheap, however, the Forester is worth considering.
