The rest reminder feature warns drivers that it may be time to pull off and rest after extended driving. After two hours of continuous driving the rest reminder light will flash.

According to the G8’s owner’s manual, you can temporarily turn the light off by using the display center controls. After 20 minutes the light will come back accompanied by chime until you pull over, turn the car off and turn it back on, resetting the timer.

Pontiac gives you the option of turning the feature off all together, since two hours isn’t a long time to be driving on a road trip, for example.  Rest-reminder

This is stupid! 2 hours?! I can't even get to Kalamazoo from Detroit!

Audi has the same thing, but you just have to press a button on one of the control stocks to clear it.
