The Pontiac G8 is a goner after all of the 2009 models are sold. For those who haven’t heard, the Pontiac line has been discontinued and will cease to exist in the new-car marketplace after 2010. You may have heard rumors about General Motors bringing back the G8 as a Chevrolet, but those rumors were quickly shot down by the automaker. There are no definite plans to bring the platform back.

In fact, GM told KickingTires, “As part of its reinvention, General Motors is exploring every opportunity of effectively utilizing its global portfolio of vehicles, facilities and talent. While this exploration includes the possibility of extending imports of Holden vehicles (such as the recent Pontiac G8) to North America, no decision has been made at this time.”

In the meantime, incentives on the G8 are plentiful with cash-back offers of up to $4,000 or zero-percent financing for 60 months to qualified buyers on base, GT and GXP models.

The Pontiac G8 can be saved! It should be rebadged as a Saturn until 2011. Roger Penske's folks would know what to do with a high performance sedan like the G8 as the halo car Saturn needs until new products can be sourced. For that matter, the Pontiac Vibe could be rebadged as the replacement for the Astra thus giving Saturn a 5 model line up for the next 2 years - Astra, Aura, Vue, Outlook and G8 (Saturn name here).

Why not go luxury performance? Go all out on the interior and put a Buick tag on it.

why dont they just go the awesome and cheap way anout it and just bring it over just as it is.. a holden comadore and drop it on chevy lots .... why does it have to be redone... that just costs money....it seems to me the holden looks the best anyway...
