For 2009, antilock brakes are standard equipment across all HHR trim levels. This is an added standard safety feature for 2009; the 2008’s antilock brakes were optional.

Along with standard ABS, the HHR also gains an electronic stability system, traction control and side curtain airbags on all trim levels.
