Which budget-oriented three-row minivans and SUVs have a DVD player?

We're looking for a minivan or crossover/SUV that has third-row seating. We don't need all the bells and whistles, but we would like something modern with at least a DVD player built in. We are definitely on a budget. What would be the best bang for our buck in this category to start looking for?

The Kia Sedona, Dodge Journey and Dodge Grand Caravan all meet your criteria of a budget minivan or crossover/SUV with three rows and a rear DVD player. These models also have large incentives that take a good chunk of change off of the price. With incentives, the Sedona, Journey and Grand Caravan are currently available in the low- to mid-$20,000s.

Adding a rear DVD player to these family-haulers often means choosing a more expensive trim level because many automakers don’t often offer a factory-DVD option on their entry-level models. See the Minivan Buying Guide article “The Cost of Van Entertainment Systems” for more information.

The seven-passenger Sedona LX is the least expensive of the bunch with a $5,000 cash-back rebate that brings the price to $21,000. Kia's rebate ends on March 2, 2009. The Sedona has seating for seven, a rear DVD player and more interior room than the Journey and Grand Caravan.

The Journey crossover seats seven with an available third row, and it’s the smallest of the three mentioned here. A rear entertainment system is available on the SXT mid-level trim. While the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is around $27,000 for a Journey with a third row and a DVD player, Dodge’s current employee pricing program and cash-back rebates bring it down to around $22,000.

It’s a similar story with the Grand Caravan, which is about $24,000 after rebates on a model equipped with a rear entertainment system. In your area there’s also a loyalty bonus that can be used toward the purchase of a Chrysler vehicle if you trade-in a Chrysler product.

Dodge's rebates will run through the end of February.
