The Rogue does have a navigation option, but it’s not your typical system with an integrated screen in the center dashboard. The only navigation option offered by Nissan is a $540 dealership-installed portable GPS that’s supplied by Garmin.
Other compact SUVs like the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, Ford Escape and Mitsubishi Outlander offer an integrated navigation system at a higher cost, although those systems typically have more features, and a larger screen.
The Rogue’s portable GPS has advantages and disadvantages like any other portable device. Yes, it can be used in multiple vehicles, but its versatility also creates a theft concern. We recently tested a Rogue with the accessory, and the unit was mounted in plain sight on the dashboard. The mount, which also charges the GPS, can be removed, but the base remains in place and gives away that there could be a portable GPS inside the car. Also, our Rogue didn’t have any locking storage compartments to put the GPS in.
