The 2009 Hyundai Sonata is built in Montgomery, Ala., at Hyundai’s assembly plant that also builds the Santa Fe midsize SUV. For 2009, 43 percent of the Sonata is built with American-made parts, while the 2008 model was built with 37 percent American-made parts. Most Sonatas you’ll find on dealership lots are 2009 models, but a few 2008s are still available. Those 2008 Sonatas have a $3,000 cash-back rebate available in your area, and the 2009s have a $2,000 rebate.
