Is the Chrysler Sebring an American-made car?

What is the percentage of domestic made parts versus imported parts? Where can I find out more information?

Mark, Raleigh

Chrysler’s Sebring is assembled in Sterling Heights, Mich. For the 2008 model year, the Sebring sedan rolled off the assembly line with 76 percent domestic parts content, and the convertible had 77 percent. These numbers helped the Sebring garner ninth place out of 10 models in our 2008 American-Made Index, which ranks new models by their parts content, domestic sales and whether the car is assembled in the U.S.

If you’re looking for an American-made midsize sedan, then you should also check out the 2008/2009 Chevrolet Malibu. We favor the Malibu over the Sebring in general, but the Malibu also ranks above the Sebring in our AMI results with an 85-percent American parts content rating that earned it third place. The Malibu is assembled in Kansas City, Kan.

We can’t pinpoint 2009 numbers just yet, and these rankings only cover the 2008 models. We’ve seen changes between model years so until we compile our 2009 rankings it’s uncertain what the next year will bring.

When will we see an automobile that has the combined hybrid/disel technology?

If you're going to recommend the Malibu, don't forget the Saturn Aura. They're the same platform and built in the same plant.

wish i had bought dodge grand caravan instead of rav4
