While similarly priced, the Infiniti is more of a driver’s car and has a sportier ride than the Lincoln, although the all-wheel-drive G sedan is less sporty than the standard rear-wheel-drive G35. What the Lincoln lacks in sporting nature, it makes up for in trunk space — 15.8 cubic feet compared to the G’s 13.5 — and rear passenger room — 37 inches of legroom compared to 34.7. You’ll have to decide what’s more important to you, if your priority is buying a sports sedan than the G Sedan is closer to that mark.

Cars.com senior editor David Thomas evaluated the MKZ in spring 2007 after it received a new engine and name (formerly the Lincoln Zephyr). He compared it to the Infiniti G35x in his Urban DINK post, found here.

Thomas writes, “I couldn’t help but remember the G35x I recently tested. Its interior was one of the best around, it had a more powerful engine and got better mileage. The MKZ had a final tally of 14 mpg in heavy city driving. The cost of the Infiniti G35x, also with all-wheel drive? Well, our tester was loaded with navigation and the premium package, which adds a sunroof, and it totaled $38,900. The base G35x, at $34,650 with no options, is still a giant step up from our as-tested MKZ.”

The 2009 AWD MKZ starts at $34,045 while the 2008 G35x comes in at $34,750, not including destination charges. There’s a 2009 Infiniti G sedan on the way with a more powerful engine as well as new name designation, G37, but its pricing hasn’t been announced yet.

You should be able to get a G35x for pretty cheap. Some dealers in my area are discounting up $8000 off of sticker.

A better comparison should be the '09 G37x sedan (7 speed automatic) & the '09.5 MKS (twin turbo direct injection 3.5 V6)

Why compare the G35 with a Fusion?
