The Honda Civic Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid aren’t necessarily direct competitors even though they’re both hybrids. The Camry, a midsize sedan, is larger and more expensive than the Civic Hybrid, which is a compact sedan.

If you’re looking for the car with the most interior space, then the Camry is for you. One of the reasons we voted it our 2008 Eco Car of the Year is that it’s a comfortable daily driver unlike some hybrids. But the smaller Civic gets better mileage numbers, 40/45 mpg city/highway; the Camry rates 33/34 mpg city/highway.
