The Accord comes in sedan and coupe body styles, both of which have their own set of engine and transmission options that affect fuel economy numbers. The most fuel efficient V-6 is only 2 mpg worse than the lowest-rated four-cylinder in city and highway ratings – a breakdown of mileage ratings are below.
Variable Cylinder Management, or cylinder deactivation, helps achieve that fuel economy on V-6 Accords with an automatic transmission. VCM shuts down cylinders at cruising speed to conserve fuel; Accords with this feature can run on three, four or six cylinders.
Accord coupes with manual transmissions don’t come with VCM and their fuel economy ratings reflect that with 17/25 mpg city/highway for the manual transmission V-6 coupe compared to 19/29 for the automatic V-6.
