There are a large number of 2009 Accords on dealership lots, but the Accord is already a hot seller, so don’t except to find huge discounts on the outgoing 2008. We’re currently showing financing offers on the 2008 Accord — but no cash-back rebates — including a 1.9-percent interest rate for 24 to 36 months for qualified buyers.

You will likely be able to find more options and color combinations if you look at 2009s. If you’re willing to take what you can get, swinging a deal on a 2008 might be the way to go.

Honda’s midsize Accord was all new for the 2008 model year with a complete exterior and interior redesign. The 2009 Accord remains unchanged with the exception of new horsepower ratings on V-6 engines, although nothing in the engine itself has changed. Honda found a few extra ponies under the hood while testing production versions of the 2008; horsepower for 2009 is now rated at 271 instead of 268 hp.

And typical of new model years, the 2009’s pricing has been bumped as well, around $400-$500, depending on the model.

many manufacturer's first year production after a major change to a model are not as good as years 3 and after; i think the 2nd model year is still better than the first. even mighty Honda and Toyota cannot prevent a few first-model-year bugs; their products clearly still improve after a new model has been out a couple of years.

so in short, i'd get the '09s in spite of a possible few hundred dollars' savings
