Does the 2009 Corolla have stability control?

I don't seem to be able to find a new Toyota Corolla with manual and traction/stability control. Why not? Sounds like they won't even build one!

Deanna Y., Boulder, Colo.

It’s possible to equip a 2009 Corolla with an electronic stability system and a manual transmission. The reason why it might be so hard to find a 2009 Corolla with those combined features is explained in the Cars.com expert review of the Corolla by Kelsey Mays,

“Traction control and an electronic stability system run as a $250 package on all trims but the XRS, where they're standard. The option is well worth the price, given that many competitors reserve stability control for higher trim levels or don't offer it at all. The outgoing Corolla charged $650 for the feature. Toyota says it's installed on just 14 percent of all '09 Corollas, though, so it may take some searching to find one with it.”

And you’re not exaggerating about having trouble finding them. We looked through Cars.com listings in your area and examples with those features were scarce. The 2009 Corollas we found were XRS models, which is the top trim level where stability control is standard.

What you can do is build the car to your specifications at Cars.com, and then send that vehicle request off to local dealerships to get a price quote. Use the comment section to mention that those features are a must.

Check out the 2009 Pontiac Vibe. It's built in the same factory and shares the same powertrain and chassis, but stability control is standard. Make sure it has the optional AC.

Thank you for the very informative discussion. I wonder why they won't come up with such innovation. I mean, I am pretty sure, people will love that.
