The recently redesigned 2009 Murano received the nod as Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, our preferred crash test organization. The Murano scored the organization’s highest crash-test ratings in front, side and rear tests. IIHS also requires an electronic stability system as standard equipment in its Top Safety Pick. All Muranos are equipped with front, side-impact and side curtain airbags as well as antilock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system.

As for fuel economy, the Murano’s 2009 ratings are 18/23 mpg city/highway for both front- and all-wheel drive, which is competitive with similar crossover SUVs such as the Ford Edge, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.

Long-term reliability is still unknown since it’s an all-new model, which typically has more quirks and issues than older models. When the previous-generation Murano ended its run in 2007, J.D. Power gave it 3.5 out of 5 for predicted reliability. J.D. Power’s predicted reliability is based on data from J.D. Power’s dependability and initial quality data for three model years.

I'm not a big fan of Nissan's, but the Murano looks like a good car.

We bought a 07 leftover. Best seats we have ever owned. Avg 21-22 mpg. Very quick and a great view. Love the comfort and flexibility.

Im 19, and a Nissan Murano was my first vehicle. I owned it for about three years, but now I have purchased another. I LOVED the Nissan Murano. Great seats, great ride, very spaceous, all around great car. Gas mileage could be better!

Is the Mazda 6s a "long lasting car"? If not what problems do they have in the long run?
