Heated seats are great in the north; however, we need cooled seats for the summer in the south.
Heated seats are widely available on many new cars, including even inexpensive models such as the $12,000 Smart ForTwo. Cooled seats, on the other hand, are often reserved for premium and luxury vehicles. We’ve listed the cars that have cooled seats below, but it’s worth mentioning that not all cooled seats are created equal.
There are different ways automakers create the cooling effect. Some offer ventilated seats with uncooled, ambient air blown through the seats, while true cooled seats have a separate cooling element that can blow a refreshing breeze on your back.
A few of our favorite cooled seats on tested cars include the Lincoln MKS and Cadillac CTS, as well as the Cadillac Escalade. However, it’s still a good idea to try the cooled seat for yourself when you test drive the car; variables such as outside temperature, cabin temperature and the clothes you’re wearing will have an impact on the cooling effect.
