With each car priced around the $70,000 mark, there’s no avoiding the direct comparison of these two high-performance, track-ready cars. Senior editor Joe Wiesenfelder has driven both around the racetrack and city streets, and explains below.

Z06gtr

“The answer to your question is ... yes. Actually, there's no simple answer. It depends on what you look for in a car. Both are remarkable track cars that are livable in normal driving. If you want to fly around a racetrack faster, the GT-R is probably for you. The all-wheel drive and paddle-shifted manual transmission provide almost effortless control. However, if you're into driving —really driving — the Corvette might be a better choice. Its rear-wheel drive makes it more challenging but at the same time more fun to slide around a track. And driving enthusiasts tend to prefer a true, stick-shifted manual transmission, which the Z06 has. In normal driving, it and the giant, torquey V-8 are more entertaining than the GT-R's turbocharged V-6, but the Nissan is more comfortable and is capable of foul-weather driving the Vette can't match. If there's room in your life and budget for either of these models, you're a very lucky man.”

I think the new nissan looks ugly as hell. The Corvette Has way better styling. The Older skyline was much better looking.. this says pansy all over it.

I own both the 2008 Z06 and a 2009 GT-R. Your description is accurate. They are very different cars. The Z06 is a wonderful raw sports car. It is powerful and a blast to drive. The GT-R is seriously fast, but not same fun factor because of all of the technology. With the Vette, if you make a mistake, you have a thrill ride on your hands. With the GRT-R -- well I don't know as the car won't let me make a mistake.
