Long-term reliability of the SX4 is still relatively unknown, because it’s only been on the market since the 2007 model year. J.D. Power’s Initial Quality index rates models from looking at the first 90 days of ownership through an owner survey. The survey includes asking owners about initial defects and malfunctions, but is not necessarily an indication of long-term reliability.

The 2007 Suzuki SX4 scored 2 out of 5 for overall mechanical quality, which is on the low side for the segment. Comparably sized cars like the Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Accent and Honda Fit score 3.5 out of 5, 4.5 out of 5 and 5 out of 5, respectively.
