When will the next-generation Toyota Prius be available?

When will the next-generation Toyota Prius be available? I understand it will appear in 2009 as a 2010 model, which means it could be as soon as April 2009 or as late as about November 2009. I know Toyota purposely wants to conceal the exact timing, but can you clear the air?

That’s about all the information we have regarding the launch date of the third-generation Prius. There’s been a lot of speculation about the next Prius, but little official information. At the 2008 Detroit auto show, Toyota president Katsuaki Watanabe announced that a new Toyota hybrid (Prius) and Lexus hybrid (unknown) will be unveiled at next year’s 2009 Detroit auto show in January. As far as when the new Prius will be on sale, launch dates are never certain and can easily be pushed back by a number of issues. When the information does drop, you’ll read about it on our KickingTires blog.

How about 6 month before the Volt.

Toyota knows what they are doing.

George,
The volt will be a plug-in hybrid. The Prius has a plug-in version coming as well but even Toyota says it probably won't be ready until 2010 when the Volt will debut as well.
