Is Interior Protection worth the cost?

A Toyota dealer offered 5-Year Paint Sealant and Interior Protection for an additional $20 a month. From previous questions I have understood the sealant is bunk. Is the protection worth the cost? Leather versus fabric?

You can follow the same reasoning for interior protection as you would for paint protection. Basically, the protection can be done yourself through over-the-counter sealants and products found in any auto-parts store’s detailing section.

Read the fine print, however — it sounds like they’re offering a plan where you could actually go into the dealership and have the stains taken out, which isn’t unheard of. For $20 a month, that’s a total of $1,200 over the course of a five-year payment plan. Wow.

A $10 can of fabric protector would do just fine if you’re willing to apply the sealant yourself and reapply every so often. There are also applicants for leather protection, although leather upholstery is already easier to clean than fabric.

FYI: In this case, it was a three year lease.
