Does Ford make a midsized truck?

I was told that Ford will make a four-door midsized truck, same size as the Dodge Dakota. Is that true?

Michael, Whiteville, N.C.

You don’t have to wait for that. Ford’s Explorer Sport Trac already fills the gap of a midsize truck with four full-size doors. Cars.com reviewer Mike Hanley gives his in-depth review here

In short, the Sport Trac’s bed is 15 inches shorter than the Dakota’s. Both offer V-6 or V-8 power; in fact, the V-6s and V-8s have almost identical power numbers. Towing capacities for the 2008 Sport Trac and Dakota max out at 7,160 and 7,050 pounds, respectively.

We set up a Side-By-Side Comparison of each truck’s base model. You can go into the compare and change styles and choose what trim level catches your eye.
