I was told that Ford will make a four-door midsized truck, same size as the Dodge Dakota. Is that true?
You don’t have to wait for that. Ford’s Explorer Sport Trac already fills the gap of a midsize truck with four full-size doors. Cars.com reviewer Mike Hanley gives his in-depth review here.
In short, the Sport Trac’s bed is 15 inches shorter than the Dakota’s. Both offer V-6 or V-8 power; in fact, the V-6s and V-8s have almost identical power numbers. Towing capacities for the 2008 Sport Trac and Dakota max out at 7,160 and 7,050 pounds, respectively.
We set up a Side-By-Side Comparison of each truck’s base model. You can go into the compare and change styles and choose what trim level catches your eye.
