What minivan has a flat storage area?

Is there a recommended 2007 minivan that you can fold all back seats down to get a flat storage area?

Sue M., Newport, Ore.

Last week, we mentioned in an Ask.cars.com response about minivans that our choice of 2007 Family Car of the Year was the Honda Odyssey, but if it’s purely an easily arranged flat cargo space you’re looking for, we recommend the 2007 Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country with optional Stow ‘n Go seating. Stow ‘n Go has a second row that easily folds beneath the floor, making these vans among — if not the — easiest minivans to arrange into a flat cargo space.

With Stow ‘n Go, there’s no lugging heavy, bulky seats out of the vehicle — like in the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and Kia Sedona — to get a flat cargo space. The third row of the Caravan and Town & Country also folds into the floor — like in other minivans — and leaves a flat cargo space.

We went into detail about minivan storage space for our Minivan Faceoff, when we pit the Dodge Caravan, Kia Sedona and Toyota Sienna against each other. There are video demonstrations of each minivan’s storage arrangement in the Faceoff that shows the process involved in folding the seats to create a flat cargo area. Although the Caravan and Town & Country aren’t as refined as their competition, the Stow ‘n Go seats are among their most notable features. For 2008, though, those vans have been completely redesigned (see more here) and now offer a power third-row seat as well as a slew of other new features.
