How do I find new car prices?

I’m looking to purchase a RAV4, CR-V or Forester coming off a three-year lease. Where/how do I find out a reasonable price range?

Stan M.,Omaha, Neb.

We have something at Cars.com called Smart Target Price, which is an estimate of what car buyers are paying for a specific vehicle. For example, when you use our New-Car Configurator or Side-by-Side Compare, a Smart Target Price pops up that is an estimate to be used as a starting point for negotiations, or simply as an idea of what people are paying for that particular vehicle. We set up a side-by-side compare of the RAV4, Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester, and you’ll notice the first number in the compare is the Smart Target Price.

Findcarprices
Now you’re asking, “What the heck is the New-Car Configurator?” On the Cars.com homepage, you can search through new-car listings, and when you select a vehicle — like the RAV4 — from the dropdown menu and hit “Find a New Car,” you come to a page with two options: “Get Invoice Prices” and “Search Local Inventory.”  If you choose “Get Invoice Prices,” you can build your own car with choices of trim, color and options in our New-Car Configurator. After you build your vehicle, you can choose to have a local dealer contact you with a quote for the exact car, or you can skip to local listings of the car.

If you choose “Search Local Inventory” at the previous fork in the road, you can view every listing in your area for new Toyota RAV4s, which is handy for when you simply want to see what’s available. We used the Toyota RAV4 as an example, but you can do the same for most new cars, trucks or SUVs.

2008 yaris sedan would like to know how much to pay wihout the dest. fee

Trish,

There are a few trim levels and body styles of the Yaris. See the following link for a comparison of the Yaris’ trim levels, prices and the Smart Target price (the price we estimate should be a starting point for negotiations)

I just came across this website that lists prices paid for new cars. It looks like it could be a valuable resource. I really like the idea. Hope it catches on. Check it out. newcarpriceblog.blogspot.com
