Should I buy a 2007 Buick Rendezvous?

I have a 2003 Buick Rendezvous, and 2007 is the last year it will be made. The new Enclave that replaces it is very pricy — $44,000 [fully loaded]. Would it be a bad idea to get a 2007 since it will no longer be made? I usually keep a car three to four years.

If you've enjoyed your Rendezvous for the past four years and want a new one because you love it, then it isn't a bad idea to get a 2007. It should have tremendous incentives, as well: Our latest information shows $4,000 in rebates on the 2007 Rendezvous.

However, the platform the Rendezvous is based on is quite old and out of date. The best we can gather – Buick officials have not responded to our inquiries —  is that the Rendezvous is riding on a decade-old platform. Cars.com's David Thomas drove a brand-new Rendezvous as a rental just a few months ago and was surprised by how quiet the ride was, but there are just too many new cars that surpass it in terms of performance among other attributes, like resale value.

Check Cars.com's Best Bets for SUVs for some ideas. We'd recommend you check out the Ford Edge, Mazda CX-7, Hyundai Santa Fe and 2008 Toyota Highlander for similarly priced midsize SUVs that are either all-new or have been redesigned in the past two years.
