What American cars have all-wheel drive?

Can you please tell me what American car companies make compacts and sedans with AWD?

Gary D., Camden, N.Y.

This is a question that can easily be answered by the Cars.com Vehicle Recommender, linked below. You can search for vehicles from 1997 through 2008 and specify vehicle category, domestic or foreign brand, and all-wheel drive. Once the criteria are entered, the recommender will spit out matching cars.

We plugged in your request — a domestic-brand compact or sedan with all-wheel drive — and for 2007 and 2008 models, the Dodge Caliber popped out for compact/hatchback, with the Ford Fusion, Dodge Avenger and Mercury Milan matching midsize sedans, and the Dodge Charger, Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego matching full-size, non-luxury sedans. For a complete list, plug in the criteria and give it a try.

Here's the full list of American cars with AWD. We've included the MSRP for each model's AWD trim:

Looking for all wheel drive cars.

Robin, see this post (http://ask.cars.com/2007/10/awd-cars.html ) where we list new cars -- not trcks or suvs -- with AWD.

Who wants to buy an american car?

Who wants to buy an american car?

Reply to Shneebz: Who asked you anyway! I have, and always will purchase American cars. I want to see my country prosper above all others. And for the little difference in gas mileage I'll just drive less. But America is a free country and you can say and buy whatever you want.
To all us Americans: Walk, ride a bicycle, motorcycle or scooter, car pool. And when you do drive, drive smart. Use less oil. Together we can tell OPEC to shove it.

Wow! That was very helpful. I think I know why somebody asked this question... same as me looking for the answer. All rental cars are american. I was looking for a cheap AWD and the websites do not list that on their websites along with prices hoping that some unfamiliar people will just book Jeep because its known for that feature. If you do your homework you will find lots of cheaper cars with AWD and who cares for 1-2 week rental if it's an american car. But here is what I'll tell you about the difference... I have a 2003 japaneese car and my bf has a 2005 american. His american car is always in repairs and it's not even 3 years old when I drive mine for already 2 years and bought it perowned and never did more then service and oil change. Difference is not only in MPG. So wise up, before giving somebody else an advice like above.

What about the Vibe? I test drove an AWD one and loved it. I'm thinking they are lower than the $20K price tag too.
